Our story
Freedom City Church began in October 1992, when Jim and Myra Gibson stepped out with a passion to reach the people of Cumbernauld and the surrounding area with the Good News of Jesus.
From the early days of renting schools and community facilities, to moving to our own building in Seafar and now in our current Town Centre location, we have always sought to create a space for people of all walks of life to hear about Jesus and experience his life changing love and power.
The journey so far has been an amazing adventure! We’ve been through many seasons along the way, but the vision remains the same. Today, led by Jamie and Claire Gibson, we are a growing multi-generational and multi-cultural church family on a mission to help people to encounter God, to follow him together and see our communities transformed.
The Freedom City story is one of God’s faithfulness as we’ve sought to follow where he leads us. This story is still being written — and we would love for you to be part of the next chapter.

To see our vision become a reality we are building a church which reflects the early church in Acts 2:42-47 where we can see everyone praying, everyone belonging, everyone growing and everyone on mission.

What we believe
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our foundation for life and faith.
We believe in Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, who died and rose again so that everyone can know God.
We believe the Holy Spirit empowers everyday people to live the life Jesus calls them to.
We believe the church is the hope of the world: a family on mission together, for the good of our communities.
